6 th Annual MANGO FESTIVAL AT THE CENTAURUS MALL ISLAMABAD

Islamabad (22 July 2022). A three days Mango Festival is organized under the arrangements of Sardar Group of Companies at The Centaurus Mall Islamabad from 22-24 July 2022 with a theme of “Building business network and community outreach” where stalls of different varieties of mangoes are being displayed including seedless mangoes. His Excellency Barrister Sultan Mehmood, the President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir along with Mr Mirza Muhammad Afridi, worthy Deputy Chairman Senate graced the inauguration and a number of foreign dignitaries, senior politicians, notables of the society and Vice Chancellor MNS Agriculture University Multan Dr Asif Ali were also
present at the time of Inauguration on 22 July 2022. 

The festival aimed at providing an opportunity for capacity sharing knowledge of mango production, post-harvest management, value addition, supply/value chain improvement and domestic/export marketing is also being attended by political leadership, academia, researchers, government officials, Ambassadors, High Commissioners,

Commercial Attaché’s, agricultural experts, mango growers, traders, exporters, input supplier and representatives of cultivators’ organizations from all over the country. His Excellency Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Executive Officer Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and the Group Director Dr Sardar Rashid Ilyas Khan played a pivotal role in planning, organizing
and executing the said festival. This show was organized under the collaboration of the Management of Centaurus and Mango Research Institute Multan. The basic aim of organizing this exhibition at the pioneer Mall of Islamabad, The Centaurus was not only to highlight the importance of Pakistani Mangoes but also to increase and enhance its export and hence this exhibition will play an important role in enhancing the productivity of mangoes. 

Pakistan is the fourth largest producer of mangoes and
shares 8% of the production of the mangoes. The total under cultivation area for mangoes in Pakistan is 170 million hector. At present, there are multiple breeds of mangoes in Pakistan out of which 9 are registered. The famous types of mangoes are Chaunsa, Sindhri, Anwar Ratol, and Langra which have no match in taste in the entire world. The total yearly production of mangoes is approximately 17 lacs 5 thousand and 80 tons whereas export remained at 142 metric tons. During Festival 100 plus verities of mangoes will be displayed. Last year Pakistani mangoes were exported to many new countries out of which Japan, America, Marakish, South Korea, GCC, Central Asia, Far East, European Union & UK are on the top of the list. 

The revenue generation from export of mangoes is 145 million US Dollars. Value added products like dried mangoes, Mango leather & Mango pulp is processed under capacity building program. Moreover, Government of the Punjab has taken multiple steps in the field of agriculture which would ensure more production of mangoes and revenue generation and in this all, role of His Excellency Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir can never be undermined and shall be remembered as an initiator. Consecutively, this would be sixth exhibition of its kind planned and organized by The Centaurus Mall, Islamabad.

 

 This event will showcase a vast variety of mangoes including Sindhri, Langra, Chaunsa, Anwer Ratol, Dussehri and Chaunsa. Other varieties of mangoes like Neelun, Begum, Khas-Ul-Khas, Sensation, Tota Pari, Ghilab, Khatie, Dhasi, Machaon, Abazai, Ahmed Abdali, Golam, Faiz Karim, Abosi and Patta Stto will also be displayed by the growers from all over Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.This platform will provide a great opportunity to the mango lovers to witness and buy the premium quality mangoes under one umbrella.
